New Series - Jade Gets Healthy #1

new

Every new year I set myself like many people new years resolutions; and one of my main resolutions this year is to get myself healthier and happier. So I have decided to document a new 'Jade Gets Healthy' series here on my little blog that I can update throughout 2015 and also carry on over to my YouTube Channel for your lovely viewing and so that I can look back on this and check my progress.

So I guess I should start by telling you a little about my body history and current stats...

I've always been a fairly active girl who enjoys regularly going to the gym, swimming, horse riding etc However towards the end of 2013 and all through 2014 that somehow came to a stop and looking back I can't really put my finger on why... Laziness? Being mentally tired? Schedule? I'm not sure... but this resulted in me gaining weight and a low self esteem - which is one of the main things I want to change this year!

Lets talk Stats...
Height: 5ft 3 & 1/2 (the 1/2 is very important)
Weight: Fluctuates around the 8.5 - 9 stone mark (cant believe I just admitted that)
UK Clothing Sizes: 8-10 tops &10 bottoms
Current fitness level: Average
Water intake: Very good at least 2 litres a day
Fruit & Veg intake: Around 2 of my 5 a day :/
Junk Food i.e. crisps, chocolate, pizza etc: BUCKET LOADS *slap on the wrist*
(Please note that these have changed as I have been good for the last few days which I will go into later)

My Health & Fitness Goals 2015
-Tone up
-Increase my current fitness level
- Improve self confidence
- Weight loss of 7lbs
- Have the confidence to take gym classes
- Run the 10K at Race For Life
- Eat more fruit and veg
- Improve my sleeping pattern
- Eat junk food in moderation
-Eat breakfast

***Please note that I am by no means telling you to have the same goals. These are just what I personally would like to achieve :) ***

What have I done so far to help achieve this...?
It is VERY early days but if you follow me on Twitter you will know that on the 28th of December I re- joined the gym. Now I know joining the gym isn't automatically going to help me achieve all of my goals but I know it is definitely going to help! I've worked out in the gym and have been swimming (which is included in my membership) every other day since joining and I already feel mentally a bit better about myself.

Here's a couple of Instagram snaps of me in the gym which you can have a giggle at!

Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 21.02.25

I've also started making small changes over the last couple of days to my diet such as; instead of skipping breakfast I have a slice of wholemeal toasted bread with a thin slice of jam and a small banana. Which I have noticed makes me feel less tired in the mornings and obviously kick starts my metabolism. I've also tried to swap out packets of crisps with Pitta bread and houmous or a piece of fruit.

I'll keep you guys posted on other things I'm planning to do to help achieve my goals but for now I'm going to leave it here because I've just realised that this post has got rather long... Whoops!

I'll most likely add to my 'Jade Gets Healthy' Series every other week or so with food diaries, working out in the gym, before and after photos, what's in my gym bag and stat updates etc :)

Anyway I hope you enjoyed reading this introductory post and let me know if you yourself are on a get healthy journey so we can support each other :)

An Unseasonal Topshop Lipstick Purchase

Untitled
Untitled
Untitled

I am well aware that summer is a quite a long way off however today I took a nosey around the new Topshop that opened up in Brighton recently and spotted their iconic 'Infrared' lipstick. Now I know that this is 100% a shade for summer and that I wont get much use out of it over the next couple of months however I couldn't resist picking it up!

The shade itself is what I would call an 'explosive' orange i.e. very bright! The formula as with all Topshop lipsticks is really easy to work with, highly pigmented, not drying and has a long lasting power (I've only wore it for a couple of hours since I got home but it has made it through a cup of tea, some pitta bread and houmous with no smudging and minimal fading - whoop!) Also the packaging is super cute which is always a winner for me :)

On a completely separate but still summery note - I'm looking to book a week away in the sun for my birthday in April and wondered if any of you could recommend any nice places to go? Nothing too fancy or expensive; just somewhere hot with a white sandy beach, swimming pool and a little town nearby to potter about in...?

Anyhoo I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post and let me know if there are any other Topshop lipsticks I should try out? - Apart from 'Brighton Rock' which is one I already have and highly recommend if you are in to bright pinks :)

The Perfect Dior Addict Lipgloss Dupe!

Untitled
Untitled
(Left to right - P.S. Love 3D Shine No35 & Dior Addict gloss - Incroyable)

So some of you may have seen that a few posts ago I was invited to the Primark Spring15 press day. At the event Primark had set up a super cute makeup gifting station and allowed us to take home any makeup bits that took our fancy. Whilst I browsed the collection I stumbled across the P.S. Love 3D Shine lipgloss in No35 which in my opinion is a good dupe for my all time favourite Dior Addict gloss in the colour 'Incroyable'

Both glosses have a lovely non-sticky consistency are highly pigmented and provide excellent lasting power. In the packaging the Primark gloss appears slightly darker than Diors however once applied to the lips they are pretty much identical. The only difference between the two is that Primark's gloss has slightly chunkier/ bluer glitter particles which after a couple of hours can feel a little heavy/ drying on the lips, but when it's a fraction of the price I can totally deal with that! :)

Have you found any good dupes recently?

Mini Boots Haul

Untitled

Today I nipped into Boots to merely pick up a packet of throat sweets for this annoying sore throat I currently have and as usual I got totally sucked in by all of the beautiful makeup stands and ended up walking out with a couple of beauty bits. So I thought I'd give you a quick run down of what I got...

Untitled
(£7.99)

First up is this gorgeous glitter nail polish by Essie called 'A Cut Above' I actually had my eye on this last year when it first came out however at the time I decided not to pick it up. Why, looking back I have no idea, because it's absolutely stunning and I cant wait to use it!

Untitled
(£2.99)

Next I headed over to the Collection stand because I remembered that I was all out of my favourite felt tip eyeliner and with the festive party season in full swing it was essential that I restocked stat! On a side note if you're looking for an affordable liner I highly recommend this one, I have repurchased it several times and I've yet to find another liner to compete with it.

Untitled

(Brow Gel - £3.99 & Pencil £2.99)

The final two products I picked up aside from my throat sweets were Rimmel's clear 'Brow This Way' & the Professional Eyebrow pencil in 001 Dark Brown. I normally stick to MAC's lingering eyebrow pencil but since I find that it runs out so quickly I wanted to try and find a cheaper alternative so I decided to give these both a go. I will keep you posted on how I get on and maybe do a comparison post if you'd like to see that?

Anyway... I hope you enjoyed this little post and let me know if there is anything you think I should try on my next Boots trip :)

The Perfect Winter Scarf

Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
(Scarf - Zara £20 & Coat - Primark £20)

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of scarves and as some would describe have an overflowing collection. So with that in mind, I've been trying to convince myself for a while not to buy anymore... However, after a recent browse in Zara I stumbled across this beautiful & snuggly rug scarf and just knew that I had to take it home!

The two toned beige colour with a pop of red makes it easy to pair with most outfits and gives off a classic yet chic winter look. My current go to way to wear it has been over the top of my faux sheep fur coat (pictured above) from Primark, black skinny jeans and chunky leather boots.

I know that this was a brief post but I just love the scarf so much I had to share it with you guys :)

Let me know if you have found any new winter scarves?!

The Primark Spring 15 Press Day

Untitled

Hello Everyone!

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the Primark Spring15 press day, so I thought that I would share with you some of the snaps that I took and tell you a little bit about what I got up to whilst I was there :)

So lets start with some photos of the new collection...!

Whilst there I fell head over heels for the collection. Two of my favourite pieces have to be a little white lace smock dress (which I stupidly forgot to photograph) *slaps self on the wrist* and the gorgeous metallic silver slip on shoes pictured above - I think these will look lovely paired with some skinny jeans and an oversized cardi.

P.S.Love Spring15 Makeup
Inside the venue Primark had set up a super cute makeup style sweet shop and very kindly let us take home a pick 'n' mix of their new make up collection! so here's a couple of snaps I took when I got home of the things that I picked up...

I also picked up a couple of bath bombs, a pocket mirror, nail stickers and manicure set! I haven't actually got around to trying the products yet but as soon as I do I will let you guys know my thoughts :)

What I got up to...
I attended the event with a fellow YouTuber Jazzybumblee and let me just say that she is truly one of the loveliest, down to earth girls that I have ever met and I miss her 'chipness' (inside joke) already!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Primark for inviting me. I honestly had the best time ever and I am so excited for the new collection!

If you'd like to see more of what I got up to I actually vlogged the event over on YouTube below

I hope you enjoyed this post :)

The Christmas Beauty: Lip Edition

LIP
Untitled

So since Christmas is well and truly on it's sleigh... see what I did there?! I thought it would be a fun idea to start a festive series which will include my top Christmas beauty picks! And to kick it all off I have decided to start with a personal fav - Lips!

Call me predictable but for me it isn't Christmas if I'm not wearing a red lip. My current go to red combo has been Kate Moss 107 paired with Revlon's lip gloss in Strawberry Fraise.

Untitled

107 has been a cult favourite within the beauty community for the last couple of years and for a very good reason. The lipstick is a gorgeous deep matte red and is highly pigmented, so a little goes a very long way. For day time use I like to dab a tiny amount onto the lips and then blend using a lip brush and for evenings out or Christmas parties I like to line my lips and then fill them in straight from the tube for a more intense look. The packaging is sturdy and it's bright colour makes it easy to find when searching for it in my handbag! The thing I love most about it is it's excellent lasting power and the fact that it doesn't bleed - there is nothing worse than a bleeding lipstick... The only downside to the formula is that it can be a little drying so I'd recommend using a lip scrub and an extra hydrating lip balm before and after applying.

Untitled

Unlike 107, Revlon's Strawberry Fraise hasn't been a name that I've heard many people mention and I honestly don't know why because it is quickly becoming one of my all time favourite lip glosses. The shade is a pink toned red with a slight golden shimmer/ glitter - perfect for Christmas! It is highly pigmented so can be worn on it's own and has a lovely non-sticky consistency.  Normally I like to add a con in here but honestly I have yet to find one! If you can get your hands on this gloss I highly recommend picking it up!

If you would like to see me wearing the lip combo here is a link to a recent Christmas Bauble Haul I did over on my YouTube Channel where I am wearing it!

I hope you enjoyed this first post in my Christmas Beauty series and let me know what your favourite Christmas lip combination is :)

A Liz Earle Christmas

Untitled
Untitled

This week I received a very exciting email from the lovely team at Liz Earle which said that they would like to send me some early Christmas gifts. So I thought that I would share with you some of the wonderful things that they sent!

First up is the beautiful Botanical Skin Saviours

Untitled
This includes the ever so famous Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, 2 pure muslin cloths, Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Skin Repair Moisturiser for Normal/ Combination skin and Eyebright Soothing Eye lotion.

Next is the Limited Edition Sweet Orange & Mint Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Untitled
(This Retails For £19.75)

This is described as a fresh and uplifting twist to the iconic cleanser; it combines zesty notes of sweet orange oil with the refreshing aroma of crushed peppermint - Or to put it basically it smells just like CHRISTMAS - which might I add I am so excited for!

Last but not least the Botanical No.15 Gift

Untitled
This includes one of the nicest smelling perfumes that I have smelt in a very long time - Botanical Essence No.15, Sheer Lip Gloss in Water Lily and Strengthening Nail Colour in Grace.

Now I have only used a couple of the products so far (which I have fallen completely in love with *hint hint* Cleanse & Polish...) So instead of reviewing them here I have decided that I am finally going to film my most requested video; My Skin Care Routine over on my YouTube Channel - LeadingLadyBeauty Which if all goes well some of the above products will make an appearance in. So make sure that you head over there and subscribe if you would like to see that video :)

Once again a big thank you to the team at Liz Earle for sending me these gorgeous gifts! The majority of these items have been on my product wish list for over a year now so when this arrived in the post my eyes almost fell out of their sockets!

Also a massive thank you to you lovely people who take the time to watch my YouTube videos and read my little blog because without you I wouldn't get these amazing opportunities.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Lots of love

LUSH HAUL

Untitled

On a recent shopping trip in Brighton I decided to 'window shop' in Lush... Yes I can already hear you laughing...  One foot in the door and as you can see by the picture the whole 'window shopping' thing went out of the window... Whoops!

Anyway as I'm sure you know around this time of year Lush bring out a large array of wonderfully scented and festive bath bombs and bubble bars which are just too good to resist; and because they only come out once a year I thought that I'd better stock up stat! So here's what I got...

Bubble Bars

Untitled
Untitled
Untitled
(From top to bottom: Sparkly Pumpkin, The Christmas Penguin & A French Kiss)

Bubble bars are one of my favourite products to purchase from lush because for me a bath just isn't a bath without tons of bubbles!

'The Christmas Penguin' and 'A French Kiss' are both new products for me. I was attracted to the little penguin because he looked so cute and as soon as I see anything animal related I instantly feel like I have to take them home, so in my basket he went! I then decided to go for 'A French Kiss' because the Lavender scent reminded me of my Grandma and I thought this would be particularly nice after a stressful day.

I tried 'Sparkly Pumpkin' for the first time a couple of weeks ago and fell completely in love with it. It has a gorgeous fruity scent and turns your bath water bright orange with little bits of golden sparkle. I really hope they bring this one back next year *fingers crossed*

Bath Bombs

Untitled
Untitled
(Top to bottom - Dragons Egg & So White)

It's pretty much impossible for me to step into a Lush without picking up a bath bomb. The two I went for on this trip were 'Dragons Egg' and 'So White'

Dragons Egg is one of my all time fav's when I need something to moisturise my skin. The bomb itself doesn't look all that exciting on the outside but as soon as you pop it into your bath it fizzes your bath water a mixture of orange and creamy white with golden sparkles.

So White is another new purchase for me. The scent is fresh apples and it once again is deceiving in its looks because it dissolves into a light rose colour (according to the Lady in the store) I am so excited to try this one because it smells lovely and this has been on my Lush wish list for ages.

What are your favourite Lush products?
